Building Envelope Forensics
The “building envelope” refers to the overall waterproofing components of a building structure, from the foundation, up to the roof. These components include windows, walls, skylights, and doors, all of which must be integrated together to keep moisture out the interior space.
Moisture Management’s Building Envelope Forensics team combines decades of experience with state-of-the-art technology to locate troublesome leaks, thermal deficiencies, and causes of defects in building envelope structures. Our specially trained inspectors are assigned to visually determine the leak source, then confirm the problem using one of the many technology tools at our disposal. In many cases, Moisture Management can diagnose and confirm deficiencies in walls, EIFS, below-grade waterproofing, and other areas using non-destructive means.
When a leak appears in a wall, window, or below grade, our building envelope forensics team can assist you in finding and fixing the problem, ultimately returning your facility to a dry condition.
Our Total Building Envelope Approach
One of the key benefits Moisture Management offers as a full-service roofing and waterproofing consulting firm is an understanding of the interaction of the various building and roofing components which keep a structure watertight. We regularly see building envelope and wall leaks attributed to the roof, which wastes money on unnecessary leak calls to roofing personnel who cannot solve the actual problem. In other cases, we have seen whole roofs replaced that were not the cause of ongoing leak problems that were discovered to be thru-wall flashing issues and other waterproofing deficiencies. Having a consulting expert that understands how these components work together gives you greater insight into the real problem than a roofer or waterproofing expert could assess independently.
